Our Founder
Karen is the owner and founder of Olive and Olive Interiors. The company is named after their beloved black Lab named Olive, But her passion for artisan homeware began in 1996 when she set off across the world with a backpack and her now-husband, Ed.
Africa was their first stop, and it quickly became a place close to Karen’s heart. Captivated by the craftsmanship, she and Ed collected handcrafted wooden carvings, batiks, clay figurines, and tables—carefully packing them into a box and shipping them home. It felt like the start of something new, but life had other plans.Their journey continued to Hong Kong, where Karen fell in love with the rich artistry of Asia. Amidst the adventure, a new chapter unfolded—a growing family. With three boys to raise, her dream was put on hold, but her passion for beautifully crafted interiors never faded.
Years later, life had shifted once again. With her boys now grown, dogs by her side, and a new home in the countryside after years away, Karen has finally returned to her passion. And created the company. Inspired by her travels and a love for beautifully crafted interiors, she now curates timeless pieces designed to bring warmth and character to other people's homes. As her journey continues, she hopes others will find joy in the collections she has carefully chosen. And one day, she dreams of travelling far and wide once more—perhaps even back to where it all began
